Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the imminent launch of a metro bus service in Faisalabad, fulfilling a promise made by former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif during his election campaign. In a social media post on X, CM Maryam Nawaz shared her plans to address the public transport issue in Faisalabad by approving 700 buses for Punjab, with 100 specifically designated for Faisalabad.
The chief minister assured the public that these buses would cover essential routes, providing a solution to the longstanding transportation challenges in the city. Maryam Nawaz disclosed that her final meeting with the Transport Department, scheduled for Monday, would mark the official approval for the new fleet.
Responding to concerns raised by citizens regarding the organization of the transport system, a netizen suggested pre-defined routes, set service timetables, and established bus stops/bus shelters. CM Maryam Nawaz responded positively, confirming that such plans were in place.
The initiative aligns with the pre-election promise made by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who pledged to introduce the Orange Line Metro Train in Faisalabad if his party came to power. He expressed confidence that his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, would spearhead the metro train project in the city following a victory in the elections.
