Legendary Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has called for star pacer Mohammad Amir to return to the national team, urging him to come out of retirement and serve his country once again.
In an interview with a local news channel, Afridi expressed his confidence in Amir’s abilities, stating that the cricketer could easily secure a spot in the Pakistan lineup. Comparing him to other talented bowlers like Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi, Afridi emphasized that Amir still has a lot to offer to Pakistani cricket.
Amir, who has been away from international cricket for the past four years, has been in impressive form for his franchise, the Quetta Gladiators, in the ongoing PSL 9 season. With 10 wickets in 9 innings and an economy rate of 8.41, he has emerged as the top-performing pacer for his team.
Afridi’s call for Amir’s return echoes sentiments expressed by former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis, who praised Amir’s skills during a recent match commentary. Younis even encouraged young bowler Shaheen Afridi to learn from Amir’s expertise with the new ball.
Amir’s recent performance against Islamabad United further showcased his talent, as he conceded just 20 runs and claimed 2 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 5.00 in his allocated 4 overs.
With both Afridi and Younis advocating for his return, the possibility of Mohammad Amir donning the green jersey once again seems increasingly likely, as the cricketing community eagerly awaits his comeback on the international stage.
