In an effort to give Islamabad its own unique identity, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has proudly unveiled MARGO as the official mascot of the federal capital. This decision came after careful consideration and presentations from various advertisement companies during the CDA board’s recent meeting.
Derived from ‘Mar’ representing Margalla and ‘Go’ signifying prosperity, MARGO embodies the essence of Islamabad’s swift progress and dynamism. Resembling a cheetah (Asian leopard cat), the mascot reflects the city’s energy and vitality. Sporting stylish sunglasses and a muffler, MARGO exudes sophistication, symbolizing the cosmopolitan nature of the capital.
CDA officials have ambitious plans to prominently display MARGO at key locations such as the Convention Centre, Pak China Centre, Daman-e-Koh entrance, parks, business centers, and other prominent spots. This move aims to make MARGO synonymous with Islamabad’s identity.
The selection of MARGO is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting tourism and nurturing civic pride among residents. By uniting Islamabad’s diverse population under a common symbol, MARGO strives to become a beloved icon representing the collective aspirations and achievements of the capital.
Furthermore, the mascot will not only serve as a symbol but also carry important messages about environmental conservation. It will be displayed alongside messages advocating for a clean environment, discouraging littering, and promoting wildlife protection at tourist attractions.
In essence, MARGO is set to become more than just a mascot; it’s poised to become a symbol of unity, progress, and environmental stewardship for the vibrant city of Islamabad.
