Luxury space tourism is no longer just a dream for the super-rich and adventurous Saudis. Gulf News reports that now, tourists and affluent Saudis alike can embark on an extraordinary journey to the edge of space, all thanks to a Madrid-based company called Halo.
Halo, established in 2021, is set to conduct its sixth test flight in June, with Saudi Arabia serving as the launch site. For a ticket price of $164,000, passengers will be whisked 32 kilometers above Earth’s surface in a classy capsule tethered to an inflatable balloon.
This capsule, designed to accommodate eight passengers and one pilot, boasts 360-degree panoramic windows, offering breathtaking views of the planet below. The flight promises to be an unforgettable experience, lasting four to six hours, with a significant portion spent at the highest altitude, providing a crystal-clear vista of the Earth’s curvature.
Carlos Mira, CEO of Halo Space, expressed the company’s goal of granting 10,000 Earthlings the opportunity to witness the mesmerizing “Overview Effect” – the sight of the Earth’s blue halo against the backdrop of space.
Aside from Saudi Arabia, Halo has chosen the United States, Australia, and Spain as launch locations for their upcoming test flights. What sets Halo’s space travel apart is its gentle ascent powered by helium balloons, ensuring a smooth journey devoid of heavy acceleration or G-forces, making it accessible to almost anyone without the need for specialized training.
