In a recent development, the Miss Universe pageant organizers have refuted claims made by Saudi model Rumy Alqahtani regarding Saudi Arabia’s participation in the prestigious competition. According to a report by Wion News, Alqahtani had asserted that she would be the first representative of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe pageant.
However, the organization promptly released a statement denying Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the upcoming event. The statement clarified that while Saudi Arabia is currently undergoing a vetting process to potentially participate in the pageant, no final decision has been made. The organization emphasized that Saudi Arabia will only be granted the opportunity to join the competition after approval from the committee.
Despite the denial, Alqahtani has not removed her claim from social media nor issued any response to the organization’s statement.
Born in Riyadh, the 27-year-old Alqahtani is a certified dentist with an impressive track record in beauty pageants, including Miss Arab Peace, Miss Planet, and Miss Middle East. With a substantial following of one million on Instagram, she has garnered significant attention.
The 2024 Miss Universe competition is set to take place in Mexico in September, featuring over 100 contestants from around the world, highlighting diversity, beauty, and intelligence.
