In a gesture of appreciation for his exceptional performance during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9, Peshawar Zalmi’s owner, Javed Afridi, presented a lavish gift to his team’s skipper, Babar Azam, on Monday. Azam, who emerged as the highest scorer of the tournament, was awarded a luxury car by Afridi in recognition of his stellar contribution to the team’s campaign.
Afridi took to his social media platform, X handle (formerly Twitter), to share a post featuring Azam seated inside his newly acquired car alongside the team owner. Azam’s remarkable batting prowess saw him amass 569 runs in 11 innings at an impressive average of 56.90, including five half-centuries and a century.
Despite Zalmi being considered as frontrunners for the championship title, the team faced disappointment after losing both knockout games against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, respectively.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam is currently leading the Pakistan side in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which is currently tied at 1-1. With two matches remaining at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the series promises an exhilarating conclusion.
During the third T20I match, which Pakistan lost by seven wickets, Babar Azam achieved a significant milestone by surpassing Aaron Finch to become the highest run-scorer as a T20I captain. His tally of 2246* runs in 67 innings places him ahead of Finch and Kane Williamson in this prestigious record.
