In a significant announcement today, Pakistani women’s cricket stalwart Bismah Maroof has decided to retire from international cricket, marking the end of a remarkable career that has left an indelible mark on the sport.
Expressing her sentiments, Maroof stated, “I am deciding to bid adieu to the sport, which I like a lot. My journey in cricket is quite memorable.” Her decision comes after years of dedication and outstanding performance in the field.
Acknowledging the pivotal role played by various stakeholders in her career, Maroof expressed gratitude, particularly towards the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), her teammates, family, and fans, for their unwavering support throughout her cricketing journey.
Maroof leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by cricket enthusiasts worldwide. In her illustrious career, she represented Pakistan in 136 Women’s One Day Internationals (WODIs), amassing a total of 3369 runs with an impressive average of 29.55.
Additionally, Maroof’s contributions extended to the Twenty20 International format (WT20Is), where she showcased her prowess in 140 matches, accumulating a total of 2893 runs at an average of 27.55.
