In a bid to accommodate the prestigious Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is contemplating scheduling the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from April 7 to May 20 next year.
The decision was discussed during a recent meeting between the PCB and franchise owners, aimed at reviewing the upcoming edition of the marquee tournament.
Among the proposals put forth by the PCB to enhance interest in the country’s premier cricketing event was the plan to host matches in Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Additionally, the cricket board expressed intentions to scout for additional venues to expand the tournament’s reach.
One notable suggestion from the PCB was to stage the four playoffs in neutral venues, aiming to ensure fairness and excitement for fans across the country.
Furthermore, there was emphasis on revising the playing conditions of the tournament to maximize fan engagement.
Commenting on the developments, a PCB spokesperson highlighted the increased media coverage and live streaming rights for the PSL, dubbing it as “the most successful brand in the world.”
The deliberations underscore the PCB’s commitment to elevating the stature of the PSL and catering to the growing cricketing audience in Pakistan. As plans take shape for the 10th edition, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate another thrilling season of PSL action.
