In a remarkable feat of courage and determination, Pakistani mountaineer Naila Kiani etched her name in the annals of mountaineering history on Saturday, as she became the first Pakistani woman to conquer 11 peaks towering over 8,000 metres.
The pinnacle of her achievement came as she successfully ascended Makalu, the world’s fifth highest peak, standing tall at 8,485 metres in Nepal. Scaling this formidable summit not only marked a personal triumph for Kiani but also a groundbreaking moment for Pakistani women in the world of mountaineering.
The triumphant moment unfolded at approximately 8:50 am (PST) as Kiani reached the summit, braving the extreme altitudes and challenging terrain.
