Lahore and Karachi brace for sweltering heatwave

As the blistering heat of summer tightens its grip on Lahore, residents are grappling with scorching temperatures, with forecasts projecting the mercury to climb as high as 42 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorology Department has issued stern warnings of escalating heat levels expected to persist throughout the week, heightening concerns over the discomfort and health hazards posed by the relentless heat.

Anticipating no immediate respite, weather experts foresee a prolonged period of hot weather, with no prospects of rainfall in the next three to four days.

In light of this forecast, medical professionals are urging citizens to take preventive measures to shield themselves from the adverse impacts of extreme heat.

Meanwhile, Karachi and its coastal counterparts in Sindh province are also preparing for a wave of intense heat in the upcoming days.

Meteorologists anticipate a surge in temperatures, with readings possibly reaching as high as 46 degrees Celsius in upper and central Sindh.

Karachi, accustomed to sweltering summers, is set to endure temperatures ranging between 36°C and 38°C, compounded by heightened humidity levels, making it feel more like 40°C to 44°C.

As both cities brace for the scorching heat, authorities and residents alike are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with the soaring temperatures.
