The much-awaited visit of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman (MBS) to Pakistan has been postponed, according to sources reported by ARY News on Saturday.
MBS was originally scheduled to arrive in Islamabad this month for a two-day visit.
Official sources had hinted earlier, albeit without providing a specific schedule, that the crown prince would be in Islamabad on May 19 for the said duration.
Sources close to the matter disclosed that officials from both countries are currently engaged in consultations to finalize a new date for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman’s visit to Pakistan.
Earlier, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch clarified on Friday that once the schedule is agreed upon between the two capitals, it would be announced publicly. Baloch expressed confidence that Mohammad Bin Salman’s visit would happen soon, emphasizing its significance and the anticipation among the people of Pakistan for the leader from the brotherly nation.
MBS’ visit, which has been eagerly awaited, marks his first trip to Pakistan in five years. His last visit to the country was in February 2019. The Saudi crown prince is expected to land in Pakistan accompanied by a delegation.
This visit will mark the third in-person meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman within a span of five weeks.
Recently, a high-level trade delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by Deputy Minister for Investment Ibrahim al-Mubarak, visited Pakistan. Their aim was to explore investment opportunities across various sectors and strengthen ties with local entrepreneurs.
The Saudi delegation, comprising around 50 members, included representatives from approximately 35 companies spanning various economic sectors.
