Nida Dar becomes leading wicket-taker in T20Is

Pakistan women’s cricket team skipper Nida Dar scripted history today as she claimed her 137th wicket in T20 Internationals, surpassing Australia’s Megan Schutt to become the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20Is.

Dar achieved this milestone during the second T20I match against England in Northampton. Her remarkable feat came in her 141st innings, solidifying her position as a force to be reckoned with in the world of cricket.

The previous record-holder, Megan Schutt, held the title with 136 wickets. Dar’s outstanding performance not only secured her a place in the record books but also showcased her exceptional skill and contribution to the sport.

Adding to Pakistan’s bowling prowess in women’s T20Is, veteran player Sana Mir also holds a notable position on the list, sitting at number 19 with 89 wickets in 105 innings.

Here is the updated list of the top five wicket-takers in women’s T20Is:

1. Nida Dar — 137 (Pakistan)
2. Megan Schutt – 136 (Australia)
3. Ellyse Perry – 126 (Australia)
4. Anisa Mohammed – 125 (West Indies)
5. Shabnim Ismail – 123 (South Africa)

However, despite Dar’s historic achievement, Pakistan faced defeat in the second T20I match against England, resulting in England clinching the three-match series by 2-0.

Opting to bat first, England posted a challenging total of 144-6, led by notable contributions from Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, and Nat Sciver-Brunt.

In response, Pakistan’s batting lineup faltered, managing only 79 runs in 15.5 overs, falling short by 65 runs. England’s spinners, particularly Sophie Ecclestone and Alice Capsey, wreaked havoc on the Pakistani batsmen, claiming crucial wickets.

Alice Capsey was awarded the Player of the Match for her stellar performance with both bat and ball.

The stage is now set for the final match of the series, which will take place in Leeds on May 19.
