Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a meeting with Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the Parliament House. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations and key international and regional issues of mutual interest.
Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between Pakistan and Turkey, describing Turkey as a brotherly Islamic nation. He emphasized that the strong relations between the two countries are founded on shared religious and cultural values. Gilani also expressed his appreciation for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s proactive role in advocating for the Muslim Ummah on the global stage.
Reflecting on his own experiences, Gilani mentioned his memorable visit to Turkey during his tenure as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He encouraged Turkish businessmen to explore and capitalize on the investment opportunities available in Pakistan.
The Chairman stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries. He proposed the promotion of cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce of Pakistan and Turkey as a vital step towards achieving this goal. Gilani also conveyed gratitude to the Turkish government for its steadfast support of Pakistan in international forums.
