Pakistan celebrates 26th anniversary of nuclear tests on “Takbeer Day”

Today marks the 26th anniversary of Pakistan becoming a nuclear power, a momentous occasion celebrated nationwide with great enthusiasm on “Takbeer Day.” This day commemorates May 28, 1998, when Pakistan conducted six nuclear tests in response to India’s five nuclear explosions, thereby securing its national defense.

On that historic day, Pakistani scientists at the test site chanted “Takbir Allahu Akbar” in gratitude to Allah as they successfully executed the nuclear explosions. This significant event underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to its sovereignty and served as a powerful message that the country would never compromise its national security.

The spirit of Takbeer Day resonates throughout Pakistan, with citizens expressing immense pride in their nation’s status as the first Islamic nuclear power. The nuclear program remains robust and securely managed, a testament to the country’s scientific and strategic capabilities.

In a statement, Pakistani officials reiterated the day’s message: “The fate of those who show aggression against Pakistan will be terrible.” This sentiment reflects the nation’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and maintain peace in the region.

Since achieving nuclear capability, Pakistan has advanced its defense technology, successfully testing a series of ballistic missiles, including Abdali, Ababil, Ghaznavi, Shaheen, Ghori, Babar, and Fateh. These developments have significantly bolstered the nation’s defense infrastructure.

Today’s celebrations highlight Pakistan’s progress and stability since 1998, with the Pakistan Army and democratic leadership united in their commitment to national security. Pakistan remains dedicated to fostering peace and stability in South Asia and will continue to work tirelessly to deter any form of aggression.

As the nation commemorates Takbeer Day, the collective sentiment is one of pride and resilience, underscoring Pakistan’s journey from that pivotal moment in 1998 to its current position of strength and unity.
