In a significant development, TikToker Ayesha Akram has pardoned all the accused who allegedly harassed her at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14, 2021. The case was heard by Lahore Additional Sessions Judge Gul Abbas.
Ayesha Akram submitted a statement in the affidavit court, indicating her decision not to pursue the case further. “I have no objection to the acquittal of the accused. I am recording my statement in the court with free consent and without any fear,” her statement read.
The incident, which drew widespread condemnation, involved a mob of nearly 400 men assaulting and harassing Akram at Minar-e-Pakistan. Videos of the horrific episode went viral on social media weeks later, prompting authorities to take swift action against those involved.
In the aftermath, 12 individuals, including Aamir Sohail alias Rambo, were accused and subsequently filed acquittal petitions against the order issued in August. The case was registered at Lahore’s Lorry Adda police station.
Ayesha Akram’s written statement to DIG Investigations attributed the tragic incident to her associate, Rambo. She claimed that it was Rambo who devised the plan to visit Greater Iqbal Park on Independence Day, leading to the unfortunate events.
This development brings a new turn to the case, as Akram’s decision to pardon the accused might influence the ongoing legal proceedings.
