Pakistani footballer Abdullah Iqbal is set to make a significant move in his career by joining Swedish top league team Mjällby AIF. The Swedish club has acquired Iqbal from Denmark’s B93 club for a fee of €200,000.

The official announcement of Iqbal’s transfer is expected later this week. This move marks a major step for Iqbal, who has played 14 international matches for Pakistan and demonstrated his leadership skills by captaining the national team in two fixtures.

Mjällby AIF, founded in 1939, is known for its history of notable players, including Swedish footballers Christian Wilhelmsson and Mattias Asper. The club, which has a turnover of around SEK 50 million, had the youngest team in the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top-tier football league, in 2022. Four of their players made it to the U-21 national team.

Iqbal’s transfer to Mjällby AIF is not only a big step for his career but also a proud moment for Pakistani football, showcasing the country’s talent on an international stage.
