Archaeologists in Peru have discovered four human skeletons that are believed to be more than 3,000 years old. The remains were found in a dry area in northern Peru, where it is thought that a temple used for worshipping ancient gods once stood.
The skeletons were found wrapped in funeral bundles, placed between mud and stone walls near a valley in the Viru province, which is part of the La Libertad region. This area is known for its rich history, with many ancient cultures having lived there.
Feren Castillo, an archaeologist from the National University of Trujillo in Peru, is leading the research. He said that the remains and the walls could be between 3,100 and 3,800 years old. According to Castillo, finding four bodies in a small area suggests that there could be many more remains still buried there.
Castillo also mentioned that people in ancient times wanted to be buried in temples because these places were considered very sacred. This discovery helps us understand how the culture in this area evolved over time.
