Saudi Arabia Eases Visa Requirements for Pakistanis

Saudi Arabia has announced a significant easing of tourist visa requirements for Pakistani travellers, effective immediately. The Saudi Tourism Authority revealed on Wednesday that applicants can now submit a bank statement showing a minimum monthly credit amount of $750 or its equivalent to qualify for a tourist visa.

This move comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to boost tourism from Pakistan, following a remarkable 43% increase in Pakistani tourist arrivals in 2023 compared to the previous year. The kingdom aims to welcome 2.7 million Pakistani visitors in 2024. To meet this growing demand, Saudi Arabia is simplifying the visa acquisition process for Pakistani travellers, who can now obtain their visas from one of six Tasheer offices established across Pakistan in Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Multan.

The Tasheer offices provide a convenient and user-friendly experience, offering visa application guidance, biometric enrolment, status tracking, and passport delivery. Travellers can schedule an appointment through the Tasheer website before their visit.

In addition to easing the visa application process, Saudi Arabia has introduced a transit visa, allowing travellers arriving via Saudia and Flynas to explore the kingdom for up to 96 hours. Furthermore, visa on arrival is available for travellers holding a valid and used UK, US, or Schengen visa.

Last year, Saudi Arabia introduced the one-year multiple entry visa for Pakistani travellers. This specific visa caters to personal visits, such as attending weddings, functions, or visiting friends and family. Holders of this visa can enjoy multiple visits to Saudi Arabia within a 12-month period, providing ample opportunity to explore the country’s vibrant cities, cultural heritage, and natural wonders.

The one-year multiple entry visa also permits Pakistani travellers to perform Umrah, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering spiritual journeys and cultural exchanges.

The easing of visa requirements is expected to encourage more Pakistani travellers to visit their friends and family, perform Umrah, and explore the diverse attractions Saudi Arabia has to offer. From Riyadh’s bustling metropolis and Jeddah’s cultural richness to the hidden treasures of the Red Sea and the ancient marvels of AlUla, Saudi Arabia promises a wealth of experiences for tourists.

“Saudi Arabia is a year-round destination, with several regions offering a cooler escape in summer, while a busy calendar of events through winter continues to attract more tourists each year,” stated the kingdom’s tourism authority.
