Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has agreed to a challenge from Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Maduro, 61, posted a video on social media accusing Musk of planning to invade Venezuela with his space rockets and challenged him to a fight. In the video, Maduro said, “Elon Musk, you want to fight? Let’s have it.”
Musk, 53, responded on his social media platform, X, with a simple message: “I accept.”
Maduro’s challenge came after his victory in the country’s presidential election, which he won with over 50% of the vote. The opposition, however, claims the results are not accurate.
In his video, Maduro criticized Musk, saying, “You are desperate. Control yourself, or you will fail.” He added, “Social media creates a virtual reality, and who controls the virtual reality? Our new enemy, Elon Musk.”
Musk has previously challenged Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to a fight, though that fight never happened.
After Musk accepted Maduro’s challenge, social media was abuzz with reactions. One user commented, “I’m putting my money on Elon. He’s a towering figure and has the mindset of a honey badger.” Musk replied, “Maduro is a big guy himself and probably knows how to fight, so this would be a real fight.”
Another user asked who would win. Musk responded, “If I win, he resigns as dictator of Venezuela. If he wins, I give him a free ride to Mars.”
