Since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan in 2021, life for many Afghans has become increasingly difficult. According to a report by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), 8 million Afghans have been forced to leave their homeland during the Taliban’s rule.
The Taliban’s harsh policies and strict laws have made Afghanistan a challenging place for its own people. The report highlights that over half of the Afghan population now lives below the poverty line, a result of the Taliban’s focus on enforcing their ideology rather than addressing the basic needs of the population.
Afghans are facing severe hardships, with a lack of access to essential services and widespread injustice. The country has seen a sharp rise in violence, bloodshed, and human trafficking under Taliban rule, leading to immense psychological and economic strain on the people.
Numerous reports from the United Nations have also confirmed severe human rights violations under the Taliban regime. There is a growing call for the international community to take strong action to address these violations and support the Afghan people in their time of need.
